Procedure Description

Liposuction is a procedure that reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess deposits of fat. This procedure can take place in legs, thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, arms, back, chests, breasts, cheeks, and neck . The results are life changing. Liposuction is not a weight reduction surgery. Liposuction is done to improve and perfect contours. It can be done by itself or combined with other procedures. There are a variety of liposuction techniques . The most commonly used technique is tumescent liposuction, which uses a solution instilled into the fatty tissue to reduce blood loss and bruising.

Ultrasonic , laser and Vasser techniques are also used but less commonly. Technique using cold or heat to reduce fat are very unreliable and not widely accepted. Following the liposuction compression garments are worn to reduce post op swelling and to aid in the establishment of desirable contour. The garment is usually worn for 3 to 4 weeks. There is seldom significant discomfort after liposuction. There is post-op swelling which typically will be gone in 6 weeks. But there is continued contour improvement for 3 to 6 months.
