Procedure Description

A facelift or meloplasty reverses the effects of time and gravity on the skin and muscles of the face. By lifting the muscles it creates a strong foundation for the lift, and allows for greater tightening of the skin. This reestablishes the contours of the neck, jawline and the cheek which returns the natural more youthful appearance of the face. These results will typically last ten to fourteen years. The surgery can take place under local anesthesia, IV sedation, (twilight), or general anesthesia. This surgery takes place in the operating room with monitoring by a board certified anesthesiologist. The surgery can normally be completed in under three hours. The recovery from this operation is seven to ten days. The results are often life changing. Post-operatively patients will usually have little discomfort. Resting for three to five days with the head elevated is recommended. Neck lifts or modified facelifts can also be done to specifically target the lower face and neck, or the upper face, so that the surgery can be tailored to the patients needs. Laser resurfacing and fillers are sometimes added to further refine, and perfect, small areas. The goal however is always the same – a truly delighted patient.
